Growing Practices
Our Promise to You:
  1. We do not use chemicals in our food production. Every soil amendment, foliar feed, insect or disease control, and other farm input is certified for use in organic production. We will not use a product that is toxic, regardless of it is certified for use on an organic farm. We rely on cultural practices and healthy soil to keep our fields in a natural balance with disease and pests. We will use insect or disease controls or sprays on a limited basis as a last resort. These controls may include garlic oil, clay, garden teas and infusions or other naturally derived, non-toxic compounds.

  2. We vow to protect the environment; earth, air, water, and creatures. Our focus is to build healthy living soil that can grow the strongest plants, which are not as susceptible to disease and pests. Each season we leave the soil better then it was the year before. We only add organic fertilizers to the soil when it is needed, in the lowest effective amount. This prevents nutrient run off into our water ways. We are aware that we live in a world of limited resources, for this reason we only use materials when necessary, and reuse whenever possible. We respect the natural balance of insects and living creatures, even the most frustrating of pests has a place in the natural environment and should be respected.

  3. Our farm operates with ethical labor and business practices. We respect the rights of farm labor and compensate them as much as possible.

  4. We pledge to preserve biodiversity, including the use of heirloom and open pollinated varieties, and growing a wide range of different crops. We will not use genetically modified (GMO) or transgenic seeds.

  5. We are committed to a healthy farm system, reliant on building soil health that thrives with life and fertility to produce the most nutritious foods.

  6. We pledge to be an education resource whenever possible, and encourage you to ask questions on how your food is grown and how it differs from the average grocery store food. It is our responsibility to give you the information so that you can make educated food choices.

  7. We pledge to serve the land and environment, our customers, and the needs of the farm for a sustainable farm system.
